Gauff Reaches 2025 French Open Semifinals
Wednesday’s Results from Roland Garros
Wednesday’s action at the French Open saw No. 2 seed Coco Gauff reach the semifinals in Paris, defeating reigning Australian Open champion and No. 7 seed Madison Keys 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-1.
Needing two hours and 11 minutes to prevail, Gauff hit one ace, won 75 percent of her first serve points and broke her opponent on nine occasions.
Gauff improved to 4-2 against Keys in lifetime meetings and will next face either No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva or French sensation Lois Boisson.
Boisson, who is currently ranked No. 361 in the world, defeated No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula and No. 24 seed Elise Mertens earlier in the event.
She will move up to No. 121 when the latest rankings are released. Andreeva, who is the standout player of 2025, remains a legitimate contender to take the title this weekend.
On Thursday, top seed Aryna Sabalenka will take on her greatest rival in No. 5 seed Iga Swiatek.
Swiatek leads Sabalenka 8-4 in career head-to-head meetings. The Polish star has won Roland Garros on four occasions and has regained her form during the fortnight.
Sabalenka has won three titles this year and has captured 20 overall. She has cruised through the event so far, not losing a set. The 27-year-old owns three Majors, but has never won the French Open.

Sinner, Djokovic Look to Reach Semifinals
Quarterfinal action at the Roland Garros on Wednesday will feature top seed Jannik Sinner taking on Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan, and the night session will feature No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev facing No. 6 seed Novak Djokovic.
Sinner, who has won the last two Majors, leads Bublik 3-1 in career meetings. Sinner has yet to lose a set in the tournament, rolling his first, four opponents in easy fashion.
By contrast, Bublik needed to overcome a two set deficit against No. 9 seed Alex de Minaur in the second round, and required four tough sets to get passed No. 5 seed Jack Draper in the fourth round.
The day’s marquee match up will see Djokovic take a 8-5 series lead over Zverev in the night session.
Djokovic, who is in search of his 25th Major, hasn’t lost a set during the fortnight. His favourable draw will leave him fresh against his German opponent.
Zverev, who has reached three Grand Slam finals, remains adamant on completing his career with a Major victory. The 28-year-old has lost one set throughout the event.
The men’s second semifinal is already set. No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz will face No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti on Friday. Alcaraz easily defeated No. 12 seed Tommy Paul 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 during Tuesday’s night session, and Musetti needed four sets to dispatch No. 15 seed Frances Tiafoe in two hours and 47 minutes.
Alcaraz leads Musetti 5-1 in career meetings. The pair will face off in the day’s first men’s semifinal on Friday.
