Alcaraz, Paolini Advance to Round 3 of 2025 French Open
Wednesday’s Results from Roland Garros
Day 4 at the French Open featured defending champion Carlos Alcaraz advancing to the third round, defeating Fabian Marozsan 6-1, 4-6, 6-1,
Needing two hours and nine to advance, Alcaraz used his dynamic skill set to produce five aces, 41 winners, and break serve on eight occasions.
The 22-year-old, who is in search of his fifth Grand Slam, will next face No. 31 seed Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Other winners on the day saw No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti, No. 13 seed Ben Shelton, No. 25 seed Alexei Popyrin and Hamad Medjedovic from Serbia all advancing.
No. 10 seed Holger Rune and No. 20 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will be in action later today.
Two-time former finalist No. 7 seed Casper Ruud crashed out of the event, losing to Nuno Borges 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0. Borges takes on Popyrin next.
Top seed Jannik Sinner returns to the court on Thursday to face Richard Gasquet in his final Roland Garros.

Defending Finalist Paolini Advances to Round 3
Recent Rome Masters winner and defending finalist Jasmine Paolini progressed to the third-round of the French Open on Wednesday, dismissing Ajla Tomljanovic from Australia 6-3, 6-3.
Hitting three aces, winning 60 percent of her first serve points and breaking serve on four occasions, Paolini will next face either Yuliia Starodubtseva or Anastasia Potapova for a place in round four.
Other winners on the day included No. 8 seed Qinwen Zheng, No. 16 seed Amanda Anisimova, and Canadian Victoria Mboko.
Mboko, 18, qualified for the event and is playing on top form. She will be ranked No. 89 in the world (as of today) when the latest rankings are released.
Matches that are still on deck on Wednesday will include defending champion Iga Swiatek taking on Emma Raducanu, and top seed Aryna Sabalenka facing Jil Teichmann from Switzerland.
On Thursday, No. 2 seed Coco Gauff, No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula, and No. 7 seed Madison Keys will be on the schedule.
