Sinner, Andreeva Reach Third Round of 2025 French Open
Thursday’s Results from Roland Garros
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner advanced to the third round of the French Open on Thursday, ending the career of French veteran Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-0, 6-4.
Needing one hour and 57 minutes to advance, Sinner hit three aces, won 85 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on five occasions.
The Italian top seed will next face Jiri Lehecka, who defeated No. 26 seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in four sets.
Other winners on the day saw Henrique Rocha continue his dream run at the event, defeating No. 19 seed Jakub Mensik 2-6, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
Rocha will next face Alexander Bublik, who also came back from a two set deficit to defeat No. 9 seed Alex de Minuar in five sets.
No. 14 seed Arthur Fils was another five set winner over Jaume Munar, and No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev needed four sets to oust Jesper de Jong.
Matches that are still on deck on Thursday will see No. 5 seed Jack Draper taking on fan-favourite Gael Monfils and No. 6 seed Novak Djokovic facing Corentin Moutet from France.
Friday’s action in Paris will see No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz, No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti and No. 10 seed Holger Rune on court.

Andreeva Continues to Soar
Russian star Mirra Andreeva needed two clean-cut sets to reach the third-round of the French Open on Thursday, ousting American Ashlyn Krueger 6-3, 6-4.
The No. 6 seed will next face No. 32 seed Yulia Putintseva for a place in the round of 16.
Other winners on the day saw No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula, former Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova, Marie Bouzkova, Hailey Baptiste, No. 20 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, and Veronika Kudermetova all reach the third round.
Kudermetova defeated former champion and No. 15 seed Barbora Krejcikova 6-0, 6-3.
Matches that are still on deck on Thursday will include No. 7 seed Madison Keys, No. 10 seed Paula Badosa and No. 17 seed Daria Kasatkina.
On Friday, top seed Aryna Sabalenka, No. 4 seed Jasmine Paolini and No. 5 seed Iga will be in action.
