Sabalenka Advances to 2025 French Open Final
Thursday’s Results from Roland Garros
Thursday’s action at the 2025 French Open saw top seed Aryna Sabalenka advance to her first-ever final in Paris, defeating four-time winner and defending champion Iga Swiatek 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-0.
In a clay-court battle that lasted two hours and 19 minutes, Sabalenka used her power and confidence to hit 29 winners, win 71 percent of her first serve points, and break her Polish opponent on eight occasions.
Improving to 5-8 against Swiatek in lifetime meetings, Sabalenka will next face either No. 2 seed Coco Gauff or French sensation Lois Boisson.
Gauff has had a great clay-court season and is poised to make her second final in Paris. The American defeated reigning Australian Open winner Madison Keys in the quarterfinals.
Boisson, who has set the French Open into a frenzy this fortnight, continues her improbable run. The 22-year-old from Dijon, France has defeated No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula, No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva and No. 24 seed Elise Mertens during her march to the semifinals.
Starting the tournament ranked No. 361 in the world, Boisson will be ranked No. 65 on Monday. She would move up into 30’s in the latest rankings if she defeats Gauff.
The women’s final at Roland Garros will take place on Saturday in France.

Men’s Semifinal Preview
The men’s semifinals are set for Friday at the French Open with No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz taking on No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti, and top seed Jannik Sinner facing No. 6 seed Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz, the defending champion, will take a 5-1 series lead against Musetti on Friday. Performing the best on clay this Spring, Alcaraz has captured titles in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Rome, Italy, and made the finals in Barcelona, Spain.
The 22-year-old remains the favourite to claim the title this weekend.
Musetti has also scored a great clay-court season to date, reaching at least the semifinals or better of every event that he’s played.
The day’s second semifinal will see Sinner take a three-match winning streak against Djokovic when the pair meet.
Sinner has far-and-away been the best player in the world this past year, winning the US Open and Australian Open. He returned to competition after a three-month ban in Rome, Italy, and made the finals (l.Alcaraz).
The Italian will be the favourite against the legendary Serb on Friday.
Djokovic, who continues to turn heads with level at of play at 38-years-old, dismissed No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in four sets on Wednesday.
The 24-time Major winner recently won his 100th career title in Geneva, and will be adamant on collecting his 25th Grand Slam this weekend in Paris, France.
