Zverev, Gauff and Andreeva Reach Quarterfinals of 2025 French Open
Monday’s Results from Roland Garros
Week two action at the French Open is underway, and defending finalist Alexander Zverev is already into the quarterfinals after his opponent Tallan Griekspoor retired after trailing 6-4, 3-0.
Recovering from a 0-3 in the first set deficit, Zverev advanced in just 51 minutes.
Zverev, who is still searching for his first Slam victory, will next face either No. 6 seed Novak Djokovic or Brit Cameron Norrie.
Djokovic recently won his 100th career title in Geneva, Switzerland and leads Norrie 5-0 in career matches.
Later today, top seed Jannik Sinner will look to make the final eight when he faces No. 17 seed Andrey Rublev.
Sinner leads Rublev 6-3 in career head-to-head meetings.
The day’s final fourth round match will see No. 5 seed Jack Draper take on Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan. Draper, who has had a banner year to date, owns a 2-0 career lead over Bublik.
On Tuesday, No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz returns to action to face Tommy Paul from the United States.
Alcaraz needed four sets to get by Ben Shelton on Sunday, and Paul was efficient in defeating No. 25 seed Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
Alcaraz leads Paul 4-2 in their current rivalry.
No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti will also take on No. 15 seed Frances Tiafoe. The American has a slight 3-2 head-to-head edge over Musetti. The pair have never played on clay. Tiafoe has yet to drop a set in the fortnight.
Musetti ousted No. 10 seed Holger Rune in four sets on Sunday evening.

Gauff, Andreeva Race into Quarterfinals
No. 2 seed Coco Gauff and No. 7 seed Mirra Andreeva both advanced to the quarterfinals of the French Open in straight sets on Monday.
Gauff needed one hour and 22 minutes to dismiss No. 20 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-0, 7-5, and Andreeva was equally as efficient in ousting No. 17 seed Daria Kasatkina 6-3, 7-5 in one hour and 34 minutes.
Gauff will next face either No. 7 seed Madison Keys or Hailey Baptiste, and Andreeva will take on No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula or Lois Boisson from France.
American women have had a great fortnight in Paris, with five players reaching the sweet 16.
Tuesday’s schedule in France will feature top seed Aryna Sabalenka taking on No. 8 seed and Olympic Gold medal winner Qinwen Zheng, and defending champion Iga Swiatek going up against No. 13 seed Elina Svitolina from Ukraine.
Sabalenka leads Zheng 6-1 in career head-to-head meetings, while Swiatek currently stands at three wins in four matches against Svitolina.
