Rune Wins Opener at 2025 Queen’s Club Event
Monday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Monday’s action at the Queen’s Club event in London, England saw former world No. 4 Holger Rune reach the second round, defeating Christopher O’Connell from Australia 6-3, 6-4.
Needing one hour and 16 minutes to advance, Rune hit three aces, won 79 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on two occasions.
Rune will next face either Gael Monfils or McKenzie McDonald for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other results on the day saw Daniel Evans and Roberto Bautista Agut advance. Evans defeated No. 7 seed Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 6-2, and Bautista Agut dismissed Nuno Borges in three sets.
On Tuesday, top seed Carlos Alcaraz, No. 2 seed Jack Draper and No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz will be in action.

No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev picked up a much-needed victory on Monday at the ATP 500 level event in Halle, Germany, debating Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 6-3.
Needing just over an hour to advance, the Russian will next face either Benjamin Bonzi or Quentin Halys (both from France).
Other results on Monday saw Alexander Bublik and Fabian Marozsan both advance to the second round. Bublik dispatched Alexandre Muller 6-4, 6-4, and Marozsan ousted Miomir Kecmanovic 6-7(3) 6-4 6-4.
On Tuesday, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner will begin his title defense against Yannik Hanfmann from Germany. The winner will face Bublik in round two.

Former Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur returned to her favourite surface on Monday in Berlin, Germany, defeating Caroline Dolehide from the United States 7-6(5), 6-1.
Hitting two aces and breaking serve on four occasions, Jabeur will next face No. 4 seed Jasmine Paolini for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other results on the day featured Rebeka Masarova, Emma Navarro, Katerina Siniakova and Magdalena Frech advancing.
Frech caused the upset of the day by defeating No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva 2-6, 7-5, 6-0.
On Tuesday, Naomi Osaka, Bianca Andreescu, No. 5 seed Qinwen Zheng and No. 7 seed Madison Keys will be in action.

No. 2 seed Clara Tauson continued her stellar season on Monday in Nottingham, Great Britain, defeating Kimberly Birrell from Australia 7-5, 6-2.
The talented Dane will next face either Anna Blinkova or Kamilla Rakhimova following her one hour and 39 minute victory.
Other results on Monday saw No. 4 seed Yulia Putintseva, No. 5 seed Leylah Fernandez, No. 7 seed Linda Noskova and Dayana Yastremska all reaching the round of 16.
