Rune Advances to Finals of 2025 Barcelona Open

Saturday’s action at the at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Barcelona, Spain saw Danish star Holger Rune progress to the champion round, dismissing Karen Khachanov from Russia 6-3, 6-2.
Needing a mere one hour and seven minutes to advance, Rune hit two aces, won 73 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on four occasions.
Looking to win fifth career title, Rune will next face either top seed Carlos Alcaraz or No. 7 seed Arthur Fils from France.
Alcaraz and Fils recently played a memorable match at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters, which Alcaraz won in three sets.
Rune trails Alcaraz and Fils 1-2 in career head-to-head matches.

Saturday’s schedule at the BMW Open in Munich, Germany will feature two strong men’s semifinal matches.
First up, No. 2 seed Ben Shelton will take on clay-court expert Francisco Cerundolo for a place in Sunday’s Final.
Shelton has been in good form all week and will be looking to test the Argentine. Cerundolo as always remains one of the premier clay-court players in the world.
The day’s second match will see top seed Alexander Zverev go up against Fabian Marozsan from Hungry.
Zverev needed three hours and 14 minutes to oust Tallon Greikspoor and Marozsan required two sets to get by Zizou Bergs 6-3, 7-6(4).
Zverev is still in search of his first title in 2025 and will be adamant on collecting his 24th title this weekend.

Inform Russian Ekarterina Alexandrova stormed into the semifinals in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday, defeating No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula 6-0, 6-4.
Striking six aces and winning 77 percent of her first serve points, Alexandrova broke her American opponent on five occasions.
Alexandrova will next face either No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek or former French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko.
Other matches on the day will include top seed Aryna Sabalenka against Elise Mertens, and No. 4 seed Coco Gauff taking on No. 5 seed Jasmine Paolini.

Saturday’s semifinal lineup in Rouen, France will see top seed Elina Svitolina facing Elena-Gabriela Ruse, and No. 3 seed Olga Danilovic going up against Suzan Lamens.
Lamens has had a great week so far on Tour, including victories of No. 2 seed Linda Noskova, former US Open winner Bianca Andresscu.
