The stage is set in Paris as the world’s best players prepare for battle on the iconic red clay of the French Open. With the 2025 French Open main draw officially confirmed, tennis fans can look forward to two weeks of high drama, intense rallies, and potentially career-defining performances.

Running from May 25 to June 8, this year’s tennis Grand Slam in Paris features a thrilling blend of household names, rising phenoms, and local favourites hungry for a breakthrough.

Sinner Roland-Garros French Open

Men’s Singles: Can Anyone Stop Alcaraz and Sinner?

For the first time in two decades, the men’s draw at Roland-Garros doesn’t feature Rafael Nadal—a seismic shift that opens the door for a new champion to emerge. Eyes will be fixed on Carlos Alcaraz, who returns to defend his title as the No. 2 seed. The Spaniard’s explosive athleticism and creativity make him a natural threat on clay.

But it’s Jannik Sinner, the newly crowned Australian Open champion and current world No. 1, who arrives in Paris with perhaps the most momentum. The Italian’s clean ball-striking and relentless baseline play make him a clear title contender at any event.

Other top names in the 2025 French Open men’s draw include Novak Djokovic, still dangerous on any surface, and Alexander Zverev, a consistent performer in Paris who’s looking to make that elusive leap into Grand Slam glory.

Don’t count out Casper Ruud, a two-time finalist in Paris, or Holger Rune, who thrives on clay when locked in. This year’s field is deep and unpredictable—and that’s just how Roland-Garros likes it.

Women’s Singles: Swiatek and Sabalenka Lead an Open, Stacked Field

When it comes to women’s tennis at Roland-Garros, there’s one name you can’t ignore: Iga Swiatek. The Polish star has already lifted the Coupe Suzanne-Lenglen four times, and she enters the 2025 French Open as the second seed, with her sights firmly set on a fifth.

Standing in her way is world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, who continues to evolve on clay and remains one of the most physically dominant players on tour. Her all-court power and aggressive mindset could be the key to unlocking a maiden French Open crown.

Coco Gauff, the former US Open champion, has grown into one of the tour’s most reliable competitors on clay. She’s joined by compatriot Jessica Pegula, along with rising teen sensation Mirra Andreeva, who at just 17, continues to climb the rankings with fearless, high-IQ tennis.

Also keep an eye on Ons Jabeur, Elena Rybakina, and Maria Sakkari—each with the weapons and mindset to navigate the physical and mental demands of a clay-court Slam.

French Contenders Aim to Light Up Roland-Garros

No Slam brings out national pride quite like the French Open, and the 2025 edition is packed with homegrown talent ready to thrill the crowd. On the men’s side, Arthur Fils leads the charge, alongside Ugo Humbert and Benjamin Bonzi. Each will look to channel the energy of Court Philippe-Chatrier into a deep run.

For the women, Caroline Garcia headlines the French hopefuls. Backed by the Parisian faithful, she’ll be joined by Diane Parry and Clara Burel, both of whom are more than capable of scoring big upsets early in the tournament.

Players to Watch at Roland-Garros 2025

  • Carlos Alcaraz (ESP): Defending champion and shot-making machine with unlimited clay potential.
  • Jannik Sinner (ITA): The top seed and the most consistent force on tour in 2025.
  • Iga Swiatek (POL): A four-time French Open champion and the undisputed queen of clay.
  • Aryna Sabalenka (BLR): The world No. 1 with raw power and increasing patience on slower courts.
  • Mirra Andreeva (RUS): A fearless 17-year-old with all the tools to shake up the women’s draw.
