Berrettini Reaches Third Round of 2025 Rome Masters; Collins Defeats Swiatek

Saturday’s action at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome, Italy saw Italian star Matteo Berrettini reach the third round, defeating Jacob Fearnley from Great Britain 6-4, 7-6(0).
Needing one hour and 56 minutes to prevail, Berrettini hit six aces, won 77 percent of his first serve points, and broke serve on two occasions.
Improving to 13-9 on the season, Berrettini will next face No. 6 seed Casper Ruud or Alexander Bublik.
Other winners on the day included No. 11 seed Tommy Paul, No. 19 seed Tomas Machac, No. 22 seed Sebastian Korda, No. 30 Hubert Hurkacz, Sebastian Ofner, and Fabian Marozsan.
Marozsan ousted No. 16 seed Andrey Rublev 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
Top seed Jannik Sinner will be in action later today, taking on Marino Navone from Argentina. Sinner has not played an event since winning the Australian Open.
No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev, and No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz will return on Sunday for third-round action.

Collins Ousts Swiatek in Second Round Action
No. 29 seed Danielle Collins scored an impressive victory on Saturday in Rome, Italy, defeating No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek 6-1, 7-5.
Needing one hour and 44 minutes to advance, Collins hit six aces, broke serve on six occasions, and won 74 percent of her first serve points.
Collins will next face No. 16 seed Elina Svitolina or Hailey Baptiste from the United States.
Other winners on the day included Peyton Stearns defeating No. 5 seed Madison Keys 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(3). Stearns will next face Naomi Osaka or Marie Bouzkova.
No. 13 seed Diana Shnaider continued her strong season by ousting Jaqueline Cristian 6-3, 6-3.
No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula will be in action later today against No. 25 seed Elise Mertens.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka will play her round of 32 match on Sunday against No. 31 seed Sofia Kenin.
