Zverev Reaches Round Two at 2025 Halle Open
Wednesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
World No. 3 and second seed Alexander Zverev reached the second round in Halle, Germany on Wednesday, easily defeating American Marcos Giron 6-2, 6-1.
Needing one hour and 19 minutes to prevail, Zverev hit 10 aces, won 82 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on four occasions.
The German, who made the finals in Stuttgart last week, will next face Lorenzo Sonego for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other results on the day included No. 8 seed Karen Khachanov taking out Zizou Bergs 7-5, 6-3. Bergs made the finals in the Netherlands last week.
No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev and former Slam finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas will be in action later today.
Top seed and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner will return to the court on Thursday against Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan.

HSBC Championships—Great Britain
Veteran Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut made the second round of Queen’s Club event in London, England on Wedensday, defeating Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
The Spaniard will next face either No. 4 seed Holger Rune or MacKenzie McDonald for a spot in the semifinals.
Elsewhere, No. 2 seed Jack Draper will take on Alexi Popyrin, and local favourite Dan Evans will face Brandon Nakashima.
On Thursday, top seed Carlos Alcaraz will go up against fellow Spaniard Jaume Munar. Alcaraz defeated Adam Walton in straight sets on Tuesday, and Munar took out Jordan Thompson 7-5 retire to reach the second round.
No. 3 seed and recent Stuttgart winner Taylor Fritz was defeated by crafty Frenchman Corentin Moutet 6-7(5) 7-6(7) 7-5 in just under three hours on Day 2.

Popular Spaniard Paula Badosa scored an impressive victory on Wednesday in Berlin, Germany, defeating Emma Navvaro from the United States 7-6(2), 6-3.
Hitting five aces, Badosa won 82 percent of her first serve points and will next face either No. 2 seed and recent French Open winner Coco Gauff or Xinyu Wang from China.
Other results on the day saw former Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur defeat No. 4 seed Jasmine Paolini 6-1, 6-3.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka and No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula will be in action later today.

LEXUS NOTTINGHAM OPEN—Nottingham, Great Britain
Dayana Yastremska needed a three set tussle to reach the quarterfinals in Nottingham, Great Britain on Wednesday, dismissing Antonia Ruzic from Croatia 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
The Ukrainian will next face either No. 5 seed Leylah Fernandez from Canada or Cristina Bucca from Spain.
No. 4 seed Yulia Putintseva and No. 7 seed Linda Noskova will be in action later today.
Top seed Beatriz Haddad Maia was dismissed by McCartney Kessler from the USA 7-5, 6-7(3), 7-5 on Tuesday in two hours and 51 minutes.
Kessler will next face Lin Zhu from China in second round action.
Zhu dispatched Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Russia 6-4, 6-1 in her first round match.
