Sinner to Face Alcaraz for 2025 Wimbledon Title
Friday’s Results from Wimbledon
Friday’s semifinal action from Wimbledon saw the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the world advance to Sunday’s championship match.
First up, two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz improved to 3-0 against American Taylor Fritz, defeating the No. 5 seed 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6).
Using his precise movement around the court, Alcaraz deflected Fritz’s powerful serve and groundstrokes for the better part of the two hour and 49 minute encounter.
Striking 38 winners, 13 aces, winning 88 percent of his first serve points and breaking serve on three occasions, Alcaraz will aim to win his six Major on Sunday against world No. 1 Jannik Sinner.
Sinner needed three sets to upend seven-time former winner Novak Djokovic in the day’s second semifinal.
Winning five straight matches against Djokovic, Sinner has now defeated the legendary Serb at the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.
Needing one hour and 55 minutes to advance, Sinner slammed 12 aces, and 36 winners against his formidable opponent.
Advancing by a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3, 6-4, Sinner improved to 6-4 against Djokovic in lifetime meetings.
Djokovic, 38, has made the semifinals of all three Majors this year. He won his 100th career title in Geneva, Switzerland before Roland Garros and is still in search of his 25th career Grand Slam title.
On Sunday, Alcaraz will take an 8-4 head-to-head lead over Sinner. The Spaniard has won five straight matches against the Italian.

Women’s Final Preview: Anisimova vs. Swiatek
Saturday’s women’s final at The Championships will see American Amanda Anisimova take on five-time Major winner Iga Swiatek.
Anisimova needed three sets to dismiss world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on Thursday, and Swiatek also needed three sets to oust Swiss star Belinda Bencic in their semifinal.
Anisimova, who has reached her first Major final, will be playing Swiatek for the first time.
For Swiatek, reaching the finals at Wimbledon comes as a surprise as grass has never been her favourite surface. The Polish star has won Roland Garros on four occasions and the US Open once.
