Shelton Advances to Second Round of 2025 BOSS Open
Wednesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Wednesday’s action at the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, Germany saw No. 3 seed Ben Shelton reach the second round of the event, defeating Pierre-Hugues Herbert from France, 7-6(4), 7-5.
Using his serve to great effect, Shelton hit eight aces, won 82 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on one occasion.
Currently ranked No. 12 in the world, Shelton recently made the fourth-round of French Open, losing to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz in four sets.
Shelton will next face either Jan-Lennard Struff or No. 8 seed Jiri Lehecka for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other winners on the day saw Marton Fucsovics defeat Arthur Rinderknech 7-6(4), 6-3.
No. 2 seed Taylor Fritz will be in action later today against Quentin Halys from France.
Top see Alexander Zverev begins his campaign on Thursday when he takes on Corentin Moutet from France.

Libema Open—Netherlands
Tuesday’s schedule at the Libema Open in the Netherlands saw Gabriel Diallo dismiss No. 6 seed Jordan Thompson 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, and lucky loser Adrian Mannarino score a rare 2025 victory over Christopher O’Connell 6-1, 6-3.
Diallo will next face either No. 3 seed Karen Khachanov or McKenzie McDonald, and Mannarino will go up against top seed Daniil Medvedev from Russia.
Mannarino and Medvedev have played on eight occasions, with the pair winning four matches each. Mannarino has also defeated Medvedev in three out of five meetings on grass.
Matches that are still to come on Wednesday will feature No. 5 seed Hubert Hurkacz.
On the women’s side, Canadian Carson Branstine caused a major upset by defeating top seed Liudmila Samsonova 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. Branstine is currently ranked No. 231 in the world, and Samsonova is ranked No. 18.
Other results on Wednesday saw Maria Sakkari, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, and Elena-Gabriela Ruse all reach the second round.
No. 2 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova will be in action later today. She faces country woman Anna Blinkova from Russia.

A trio of Americans will see second round action on Wednesday at the Queen’s Club event in London, England.
No. 2 seed Madison Keys will face Anastasia Zakharova, No. 3 seed Emma Navarro goes up against Beatriz Haddad Maia, and No. 8 seed Amanda Anisimova will look to make the quarterfinals when she faces Sonay Kartal from Great Britain.
No. 6 seed Karolina Muchova will also play her second round match on Wednesday against Tatjana Maria from Germany.
Tournament top seed Qinwen Zheng will see her first action of the week on Thursday against McCartney Kessler from the United States.
