Fritz Reaches Second Round of 2025 Geneva Open

Bitpanda Hamburg Open—Hamburg, Germany

Wednesday’s action at the Hamburg Open in Germany saw No. 2 seed Frances Tiafoe crash out of the event, losing to veteran Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-3.

Needing one hour 26 minutes to advance, Bautista Agut hit four aces, won 81 percent of his first serve points, and broke serve on three occasions. 

Bautista Agut will next face either Alejandro Davidovich Fokina or Flavio Cobolli for a place in the semifinals. 

Other results on the day saw Jiri Lehecka defeat No. 4 seed Francisco Cerundolo 7-5, 6-2.

Matches that are still to come on Wednesday will include top seed Alexander Zverev, No. 3 seed Andrey Rublev and No. 6 seed Felix Auger Aliassime.

Gonet Geneva Open—Switzerland

US Open finalist Taylor Fritz reached the quarterfinals of the Geneva Open on Wednesday, defeating Quentin Halys 6-4, 7-6(5).

Fritz, who has been quiet all season in terms of results, will next face either No. 6 seed Hubert Hurkacz or Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech.

Matches that are still on deck on Wednesday will see Novak Djokovic return to action against Marton Fucsovics.

Djokovic has not won a match on clay this season. The Serb remains in search of his 25th Major title at next week’s French Open.

Internationaux de Strasbourg—France

No. 2 seed Emma Navarro advanced to the quarterfinals in Strasbourg on Wednesday, defeating Anna Blinkova 6-4, 6-1. 

The American will next face Beatriz Haddad Maia, who dismissed Ashlyn Krueger earlier in the day 7-6(3), 6-3. 

The day’s marquee match up will feature top seed Jessica Pegula taking on Anna Kalinskaya from Russia.

Grand Prix Sar La Princesse Lalla Meryem—Rabat, Morocco

On Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco, No. 4 seed Ann Li reached the quarterfinals of the event, ousting Hailey Baptiste 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-5 in two hours and 38 minutes. 

Li will next face Maya Joint from Australia, who dispatched Katie Volynets from the United States 6-0, 6-3. 

No. 2 seed Camila Osorio will be in action later today against Kamilla Rakhimova.
