Pegula Wins 2025 Bad Homburg Title Over Swiatek

Saturday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results

Former US Open finalist Jessica Pegula won her ninth career title on Saturday at the Bad Homburg event in Germany, defeating five-time Major winner Iga Swiatek 6-4, 7-5.

Needing one hour and 46 minutes to seal her victory, Pegula hit three aces, won 71 percent of her first serve points and broke her opponent on two occasions.

Improving to 5-6 against Swiatek in lifetime meetings, Pegula now will head to Wimbledon where she will face Elisabetta Cocciaretto in first-round action.

Swiatek, who has still not won a title since capturing her fourth Roland Garros crown in 2024, will take on Polina Kudermetova in the round of 128 at The Championships beginning on Monday.

Lexus Eastbourne Open—Great Britain

Saturday’s women’s final at the Eastbourne Open will feature a match of next generation talent for the title.

Alexandra Eala, 20, will face Maya Joint, 19, at the prestigious Wimbledon tune-up.

Eala, who reached the semifinals of the Miami Open earlier this year, possesses an aggressive lefty baseline arsenal. Training at the Rafa Nadal Academy during the season, Eala has shown steady progress up the rankings this year.

She currently stands at No. 56 in the world.

Joint, who hails from Australia, has already claimed her first-career title, winning the crown in Rabat, Morocco during the clay court season earlier this Spring.

The pair have never played on the professional circuit.

On the men’s side, top seed Taylor Fritz will bid for his fourth-career title in Eastbourne on Saturday, facing fellow American Jenson Brooksby.

Fritz, who recently won his first title of the season in Stuttgart, Germany, always seems to thrive on grass-courts. His big serve and ground-strokes are very well suited to the speedy surface.

Brooksby, who captured his first-career title in Houston, Texas this Spring, is one of the more unorthodox players on the circuit. Having the ability to put his opponent’s in unfavourable positions on the court, Brooksby remains a player that no one wants to face.

Fritz and Brooksby have played twice on tour, with each player winning once.

Mallorca Championships presented by ecotrans Group

Saturday’s title match at the Mallorca Championships will feature No. 4 seed Tallon Griekspoor taking on unseeded Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

Both players caused upsets on Saturday, Griekspoor ousted No. 2 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, while Moutet also needed two sets to dispatch No. 3 Alex Michelsen 6-4, 7-6(3).

Moutet has been playing the best tennis of his career in recent weeks, defeating the likes of Taylor Fritz, Holger Rune, and inform Canadian Gabriel Diallo.

Griekspoor, who owns two career titles, possesses a very technically sound game. The Dutchman has victories over Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev and Matteo Berrettini so far in 2025.

Moutet and Griekspoor have never played on the ATP Tour.
