Men’s Semifinal Preview
Saturday’s men’s semifinals will be highlighted by No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz facing No. 13 seed Jack Draper, and No. 5 seed Daniil Medvedev taking on No. 12 seed Holger Rune.
Alcaraz, who is the two-time defending champion of the tournament, will take a 3-1 head-to-head lead over the Brit into Saturday’s clash.
Alcaraz has been on a tear this event, but will be weary of the great level that his lefty opponent can bring to the table.
Draper, who currently sits at No. 11 in the world in the live rankings, continues to prove that it’s only a matter time before he is a top 5 player. The 23-year-old defeated No. 11 seed Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-5 on Thursday.
The day’s second semifinal will see last year’s finalist Medvedev go up against former world No. 4 Holger Rune.
Medvedev, who has not won a title since the 2023 Rome Masters, will take a 2-1 head-to-head lead against Rune into their next encounter.
The Danish star also hasn’t won a title since the 2023 season in Munich, Germany.
Rune ousted former winner and No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz earlier in the event.
