Alcaraz Reaches Doha Quarterfinals; Swiatek Advances to Dubai Final Eight
Wednesday’s schedule at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha, Qatar saw top seed Carlos Alcaraz breeze into the quarterfinals, defeating Luca Nardi 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
The Spaniard, who needed one hour and 53 minutes to advance, hit three aces, won 71 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on five occasions.
Looking to capture his 18th career title this week, Alcaraz will next face Fabian Marozsan or Jiri Lehecka for a place in the semifinals.
Other results on the day included No. 2 seed Alex de Minuar, No. 4 seed Daniil Medvedev, No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev, No. 8 seed Jack Draper, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jiri Lehecka all reach the final eight.
Still to come on Wednesday, Matteo Berrettini will hope that his tournament will continue when he takes on Tallon Griekspoor.
On Tuesday, Berrettini captured his first-career victory over 24-time Major winner Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships—Dubai, United Arab Emirates
A busy day of action at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates featured No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek reaching the final eight of the event, dismissing Dayana Yastremska 7-5, 6-0.
Swiatek, who loves playing in the Middle East, won 72 percent of her first serve points and broke her Ukrainian opponent on six occasions.
The Polish star will next face No. 12 seed Mirra Andreeva, who easily dismissed Peyton Stearns from the United States 6-1, 6-1.
Other players to win matches on Wednesday included No. 6 seed Elena Rybakina, No. 8 seed Emma Navarro, Linda Noskova, Sofia Kenin, and Sorana Cirstea.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka crashed out the event later in the day Clara Tauson 6-3, 6-2.
It was Sabalenka’s second early loss in as many week’s on Tour. She lost in the round of 32 in Doha, Qatar last week to Ekaterina Alexandrova in three sets.
