Men’s Final Preview: Sinner vs. Alcaraz
The dream final on the men’s side is set to take place on Sunday in Campo Centrale, when Italian favourite and top seed Jannik Sinner will take on his top rival Carlos Alcaraz for the title.
Both Sinner and Alcaraz have been in great form so far in the event, and Sunday’s final promises to bring forward a high standard of tennis.
Alcaraz currently leads Sinner 6-4 in career head-to-head meetings, and has won their last three encounters. The Spaniard recently captured the title in Monte Carlo, Monaco, made the finals in Barcelona, Spain, before skipping the event in Madrid due to an abductor injury.
Sinner, who has been off Tour since January with a doping suspension, has returned to action in great form. The world No. 1 has defeated No. 6 seed Casper Ruud, No. 11 seed Tommy Paul and No. 17 seed Francisco Cerundolo during his path to the finals.
Sinner is also carrying a 26 match winning streak into the Rome final. Sinner last lost on Tour in the Beijing Open final to Alcaraz at the end of September.
All in all, Sunday’s star-studded final should be one to remember.
