Rune Defeats Defending Champion Ruud at 2025 Barcelona Open

Friday’s action at the at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Barcelona, Spain saw former top four player Holger Rune advance to the semifinals, defeating No. 2 seed and defending champion Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-2.
In a match that latest one hour and 27 minutes, Rune hit 15 winners, broke serve on four occasions and won 79 percent of his first serve points.
Improving to 2-6 against Ruud in lifetime meetings, Rune will next face Karen Khachanov for a place in Sunday’s final.

Needing one hour and 14 minutes to advance, Shelton ousted his inform opponent by striking seven aces, winning 77 percent of his first serve points and breaking serve on three occasions.
Darderi had recently won his second career title in Marrakech, Morocco.
Currently ranked No. 13 in the world, Shelton will next face No. 5 seed Francisco Cerundolo for a place in Sunday’s final.
