Humbert, Rinderknech Advance at Paris Masters; Halep Ousted in Hong Kong
Monday’s schedule of play at the Rolex Paris Masters in France featured Frenchmen Ugo Humbert and Arthur Rinderknech advancing to the second round.
No. 15 seed Humbert won after he defeated Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, and Rinderknech moved into the round of 32 after Tomas MacHac retired while up a set and trailing 5-3 in the second set.
Other winners on the day included Francisco Cerundolo, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Marcos Giron, Tallon Griekspoor, Miomir Kecmanovic and Jordan Thompson.
Tuesday’s order or play will feature No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz, No. 6 seed Andrey Rublev, No. 7 seed Casper Ruud and former winners No. 13 seed Holger Rune and Karen Khachanov.

Hong Kong Tennis Open—Hong Kong, China
Former two-time Major winner Simona Halep failed to reach the second round in Hong Kong on Monday, losing in straight sets to No. 6 seed Yue Yuan 6-3, 6-3.
Playing only five matches in 2024, Halep is currently ranked No. 883 in the world.
The 33-year-old Romanian fell to 1-4 on the season.
Elsewhere, No. 9 seed Bernarda Pera, Jessika Ponchet, Shi Han, Wang Xiyu and Priscilla Hon all reached the second round.
The top two seeds Diana Shnaider and Katie Boulter will be in action on Tuesday.
