Dimitrov Reaches 2025 Miami Open Third Round; Swiatek Advances

Friday’s action at the Miami Open presented by Itau saw former world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov advance to the round of 32, defeating wild-card Federico Cina from Italy 6-1, 6-4.
In a match that latest one hour and eight minutes, Dimitrov hit 19 winners, struck four aces, broke serve on three occasions and won 81 percent of his first serve points.
Currently ranked No. 15 in the world, Dimitrov will next face No. 22 Karen Khachanov.
Khachanov dismissed Australian Nick Kyrgios 7-6(3), 6-0 a for a place in round four.
Other winners on the day saw No. 5 seed Casper Ruud, No. 15 seed Lorenzo Musetti and No. 18 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime all reaching the third round.
Matches that are still on deck on Friday will feature No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz, No. 4 seed Novak Djokovic, No. 7 seed Daniil Medvedev, No. 9 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and No. 12 seed Tommy Paul.
On Saturday, top seed Alexander Zverev, No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz, No. 6 seed Jack Draper, No. 11 Holger Rune and No. 13 seed Ben Shelton will be featured.

Swiatek Reaches Third Round
Five-time Major winner Iga Swiatek reached the third round in Miami on Friday, defeating former world No. 4 Caroline Garcia 6-2, 7-5.
Needing one hour and 34 minutes to prevail, Swiatek hit eight aces, broke serve on five occasions and won 69 of her first serve points.
The Polish star, who has not won an event since Roland Garros last year, will next face either No. 27 seed Elise Mertens or Peyton Stearns from the United States.
Other women’s winners on the day included Anna Blinkova and No. 32 seed Anna Kalinskaya.
Blinkova ousted No. 13 seed Diana Shnaider 6-4, 7-6(0).
Still to come on Friday, No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula, No. 5 seed Madison Keys, No. 8 seed Emma Navarro and recent BNP Paribas Open winner Mirra Andreeva will be in action.
Saturday’s schedule in Miami will be highlighted by top seed Aryna Sabalenka and No. 3 seed Coco Gauff.
