Cobolli Defeats Gasquet in Bucharest
Wednesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Wednesday’s action at the 2025 Tiriac Open presented by UniCredit Bank in Bucharest, Romania saw No. 3 seed Flavio Cobolli advance to the quarterfinals, dismissing Tour veteran Richard Gasquet 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Needing one hour and 56 minutes to advance, Cobolli hit four aces, won 60 percent of his first serve points and broke his French opponent on six occasions.
Currently ranked No. 45 in the world, Cobolli will next face Filip Misolic, who easily defeated No. 8 seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli from Argentina 6-3, 6-1.
Other matches that are still to come on Wednesday will feature top seed Sebastian Baez taking on towering Canadian Gabriel Diallo for a place in the final eight.
Thursday’s schedule will feature Stan Wawrinka back on court, as well as defending champion Marton Fucsovics.

Wednesday’s order of play in Marrakech, Morocco saw No. 7 seed Luciano Darderi race past American Tristan Boyer 6-4, 6-4 to reach the second round.
Needing one hour and 40 minutes to progress, Darderi will next face Hugo Gaston in the round of 16.

Top seed Tommy Paul will play his first match at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, taking on former winner Cristian Garin in second round action.
Paul is currently ranked No. 13 in the world.
Other matches of note on Wednesday will include No. 3 seed Alejandro Tabilo facing American Jenson Brooksby. Tabilo has had an awful start to the season, recording a 2-8 record through the first, three months of 2025.
Pegula Starts Campaign in Charleston
Top seed Jessica Pegula begins her Charleston campaign on Wednesday in South Carolina, taking on Iryna Shymanovich from Belarus.
Recently losing to Aryna Sabalenka in the finals of the Miami Open, Pegula will be ready to prove that her form can transcend hard-courts on the American Har Tru surface this week.
Other big names in action on Wednesday will include No. 3 seed Qinwen Zheng, No. 4 Emma Navarro, No. 5 seed Daria Kasatkina, and former Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin.
Reigning Australian Open winner Madison Keys pulled through with a 6-3, 7-6(5) victory over Caroline Dolehide on Tuesday.

Wednesday’s schedule in Bogota, Colombia will see top seed Marie Bouzkova in second round action against Raluka Serban from Cyprus.
