Sinner, Sabalenka, Swiatek and Fritz Highlight Day 5 at 2025 Cincinnati Open
Saturday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results and Previews from Cincinnati
Saturday’s action at the Cincinnati Open in Mason, Ohio will feature the return of the sport’s two No. 1 ranked players.
First up, four-time Major winner and the holder of three of the four current Grand Slams, Jannik Sinner, will be in action. Sinner has not played a match since defeating Carlos Alcaraz in four sets to capture the Wimbledon title on July 13.
In his first obstacle as defending champion, Sinner will take on Daniel Elahi Galan (ranked No. 144) from Colombia in his second round match.
Sinner currently stands at 26-3 on the season, and is the overwhelming favourite to repeat as champion in Cincinnati.
Other matches of note on Saturday will see No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz taking on Emilo Nava, No. 7 seed Holger Rune facing Roman Safiullin, No. 8 seed Lorenzo Musetti versus Benjamin Bonzi, and No. 10 seed Frances Tiafoe going up against Roberto Carballes Baena.
On Friday, Learner Tien, Reilly Opelka, Roberto Bautista Agut, and Jensen Brooksby were all victorious.
On Sunday, No. 2 seed Alcaraz is slated to return to action against Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Sabalenka Returns to Court
World No. 1 and three-time Major winner Aryna Sabalenka returns to action on Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio, facing former Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova.
Sabalenka last lost to Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon semifinal, and Vondrousova (the eventual winner) in Berlin, Germany.
Sabalenka is the defending champion in Cincinnati.
Other matches on Saturday will include No. 3 seed Iga Swiatek taking on Anastasia Potapova, No. 5 seed Anisimova versus Leolia Jeanjean, No. 6 seed Madison Keys facing Eva Lys, and No. 30 seed Emma Raducanu going up against Olga Danilovic.
On Friday, Maria Sakkari, Taylor Townsend, Barbora Krejcikova, and Caty McNally all reached the round of 64.
On Sunday, No. 2 seed and reigning French Open winner Coco Gauff will return for her second round match against Wang Xinyu from China.
Gauff lost in the fourth round of the National Bank Open in Montreal, Canada to eventual winner Victoria Mboko in straight sets.
