Cerundolo Reaches Gstaad Final; Shapovalov Aims for Los Cabos Crown
Saturday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Saturday’s action at the Gstaad Open in Switzerland saw Juan Manuel Cerundolo reach his second-career Tour final, defeating Ignacio Buse from Peru 6-3, 6-3.
Cerundolo, who is the younger brother of world No. 19 Francisco Cerundolo, is currently ranked No. 81 in the world.
Winning his first title in 2021 in Cordoba, Argentina, Cerundolo will await the winner of No. 2 seed Alexander Bublik or Arthur Cazaux from France.
Cerundolo dismissed top seed Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Bublik has been in great form as of late, reaching the quarterfinals of Roland Garros and winning the title in Halle, Germany. The 28-year-old defeated world No. 1 Jannik Sinner along the way to the title in Halle.

Saturday’s semifinal action in Bastad, Sweden will feature Jesper de Jong taking on either top seed Francisco Cerundolo or Luciano Darderi from Italy
De Jong defeated No. 5 seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-3, 7-6(3) in the day’s first semifinal. De Jong will be playing in his first-career final on Sunday. He is currently ranked No. 106 in the world but will break into the top 100 with his performance in Bastad.
Cerundolo will be looking to join his younger brother Juan Manuel in a Tour final this week, where he will hope to take home his fourth career title.
Cerundolo is currently ranked No. 19 in the world.

Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo—Los Cabos, Mexico
Talented Canadian Denis Shapovalov will aim to win his fourth career title and second this year in Los Cabos, Mexico on Saturday evening.
Taking advantage of an easy draw this week, which hasn’t seen him play a player ranked higher than No. 97 in world, Shapovalov will next face No. 7 seed Aleksandar Kovacevic for the title.
Kovacevic upset top seed Andrey Rublev 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 29 minutes on Friday evening.
Kovacevic made the finals of the indoor Tour event in Montpellier, France earlier this year, losing to Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

MSC HAMBURG LADIES OPEN—HAMBURG,GERMANY
Saturday’s semifinal action at the Hamburg Open in Germany will feature No. 2 seed Dayana Yastremska taking on French Open semifinalist and No. 5 seed Lois Boisson, and No. 7 seed Anna Bondar facing Kaja Juvan.
Yastremska recently made the third round of Wimbledon, upsetting reigning French Open champion Coco Gauff in the first round.
Boisson is currently ranked No. 53 in the world. The 22-year-old has a great game for clay-courts and will be looking to notch her first title this weekend.

UNICREDIT IASI OPEN—IASI, ROMANIA
Featuring three Romanian players in the semifinals, Saturday’s action in Iasi will surely be one to remember for the fans in attendance.
First up, Sorana Cirstea will face No. 6 seed Jil Teichmann from Switzerland. The day’s second semifinal will be highlighted by No. 2 seed Jaqueline Cristian taking on No. 6 seed Irina-Camelia Begu.
Cirstea owns six career titles, while Teichmann has won two events as a professional.
Begu has captured five titles during her career, and Cristian will be hopeful that her first title will be achieved on home soil this weekend.
