Sinner, Djokovic Reach 2025 Wimbledon Quarterfinals
Monday’s Results from Wimbledon
Top seed Jannik Sinner and No. 6 seed Novak Djokovic took one step closer to a blockbuster semifinal encounter at Wimbledon on Monday, defeating Grigor Dimitrov and Alex de Minuar respectfully.
First up, Djokovic needed three hours and 18 minutes to improve to 3-1 against de Minaur in lifetime meetings. Recording a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory, Djokovic won his 101st match at Wimbledon.
Using his improved serving to great effect, Djokovic hit six aces, 38 winners, broke his Australian opponent on six occasions and won 69 percent of his first serve points.
Aiming to tie Roger Federer with eight Wimbledon titles, Djokovic will next face No. 22 seed Flavio Cobolli for a place in the semifinals.
Later in the day, Sinner joined Djokovic in the final eight by advancing when former top three player Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire after winning the first, two sets 3-6, 5-7, 2-2.
After hitting a serve on the deuce side to win the fourth game of the third set, Dimitrov hurt his shoulder and fell to the ground. Sinner graciously went over to aid the Bulgarian to his feet.
Sinner, who has made the finals of the last three Grand Slams, improved to 5-1 against the Dimitrov in lifetime meetings.
Sinner will next face either No. 10 seed Ben Shelton on Wednesday. Shelton took out Lorenzo Sonego in four, thrilling sets.
Other winners on Monday included No. 22 seed Cobolli dismissing former US Open champion Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(4), 7-6(3).
Cilic had defeated No. 4 seed Jack Draper in four sets in round two.
Cobolli will be playing in his first-ever Grand Slam quarterfinal.
On Tuesday, two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz returns to action to face Brit Cameron Norrre. Norrie advanced to the quarterfinals after dismissing Nicolas Jarry in straight sets on Sunday.

Andreeva Continues Dream Run at Wimbledon
Russian start Mirra Andreeva continued her quest for a maiden Major on Monday by dismissing No. 10 seed Emma Navarro 6-2, 6-3.
Andreeva, who possesses all of the qualities to be a world No. 1 and future Grand Slam winner, will next face Olympic champion Belinda Bencic.
Bencic reached her first-ever Wimbledon quarterfinal, defeating No. 18 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-6(4). 6-4.
No. 19 seed Liudmila Samsonova also advanced to the final eight, dispatching Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 7-5, 7-5.
Sabalenka, who lost in the finals of the first two Majors this year, remains on course to claim her first Wimbledon title on Saturday.
Other matches on Tuesday will included five-time Major winner Iga Switaek dispatch No. 23 Clara Tauson 6-4, 6-1.
