Tuesday’s action at the Miami Open featured No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner and No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev easily advancing to the quarterfinals.
Sinner needed one hour and 51 minutes to defeat Christopher O’Connell 6-4, 6-3 and Medvedev breezed past Dominik Koepfer 7-6(5), 6-0 in one hour and 29 minutes.
Medvedev will next face No. 22 seed Nicolas Jarry and Sinner will take on Tomas Machac.
Still to come on Tuesday, top seed Carlos Alcaraz will look for a final eight spot against No. 23 seed Lorenzo Musetti.
On the women’s side, No. 27 seed Victoria Azarenka needed two hours and 55 minutes to oust
Yulia Putintseva 7-6(4), 1-6, 6-3 to reach the semifinals.
The former two-time Major will next face either No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina or No. 8 seed Maria Sakkari.
Wednesday’s action in Miami will be highlighted by women’s and men’s quarterfinal action.
