Sabalenka Withdraws from 2025 National Bank Open in Montreal

[MONTREAL, QC], July 16, 2025 – Tennis Canada announced today that Aryna Sabalenka is withdrawing from the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO) in Montreal due to fatigue. The 27-year-old has  played a lot of tennis in recent weeks, having reached consecutive semi-finals at Wimbledon and Berlin, as well as reaching the final of the French Open and winning the title at the Mutua Open in Madrid.

“I’m looking forward to kicking off the North American hard-court swing, but to give myself the best chance for success this season, I’ve decided it’s in my best interest to skip Montreal,” Sabalenka said. “I’ll miss my amazing Canadian fans, but I’m already looking forward to seeing you all next year. Thanks for your understanding and support it means the world to me!”

“We’re obviously disappointed that Aryna [Sabalenka] won’t be with us this year. She was definitely eagerly awaited by fans, and we were all looking forward to seeing her in action at the IGA Stadium,” said
Valérie Tétreault, Tournament Director of the event in Montreal. “However, our main draw remains the best in our history, and we know that the vast majority of the world’s best players who will soon be in action on our court will provide us with some breathtaking moments.”

Badosa also withdraws

Tennis Canada also announced that Paula Badosa (No. 10) from Spain has withdrawn from the NBO due to an injury. Following these changes, two players will now enter the main draw: Caty McNally (No. 71 SR) from the United States and Moyuka Uchijima from Japan (No. 73).
