Raducanu Crashes Out of Singapore; Bu Wins in Montpellier

No. 8 seed Yunchaokete Bu advanced to the second round of the Open Occitanie in Montpellier, France on Monday.

Defeating Daniel Altimar 7-6(1), 6-3, Bu needed on hour and 43 minutest to advance.

The Chinese star will next face either Borna Coric or Constant Lestienne for a place in the quarterfinals.

Other matches on the day that are still to be featured will see three-time Major winner Stan Wawrinka taking on Arthur Cazaux and Gregoire Barrere facing Dominik Koepfer.

Tuesday’s action in Montpellier will be highlighted by No. 5 seed Tallon Griekspoor, No. 7 seed Arthur Rinderknech, and French hero Richard Gasquet.

Singapore Tennis Open— Singapore, Singapore

Monday’s action at the Singapore Tennis Open saw former US Open winner Emma Raducanu crash out of the event, losing in three hours and three minutes to Cristina Bucsa, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.

Losing in the third round of the Australian Open to Iga Swiatek, Raducanu has failed to win an event since capturing the 2019 US Open.

The 22-year-old is currently ranked No. 56 in the world.

Bucsa will next face Mananchaya Sawangkaew, who defeated Sijia Wei 6-4, 7-6(2).

Other winners on the day saw top seed Anna Kalinskaya, No. 6 seed Camila Osorio, Ann Li, Maya Joint and Dominika Salkova all reach the second round.

Tuesday’s action in Singapore will feature No. 2 seed Elise Mertens, No. 4 seed Xinyu Wang, and No. 5 seed Polina Kudermetova.

Upper Austria Ladies Linz—Linz, Austria

Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova recorded an opening round victory at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz in Austria on Monday, defeating Jessica Bouzas Maneiro from Spain 7-6(6), 6-4.

Tomova added 56 percent of her first serve points won, and broke her opponent on seven occasions.

Tomova will next face No. 3 seed Maris Sakkari for a plce in the final eight.

Matches to be featured on Tuesday will see No. 5 seed Dayana Yastremska, No. 6 seed Anastasia Potapova and No. 8 seed Clara Tauson all on court.
