Opelka Advances to Second Round of 2025 Eastbourne Open
Tuesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Towering American Reilly Opelka advanced to the second round of the Eastbourne Open on Tuesday, defeating George Loffhagen from Great Britain 7-6(6), 3-6, 7-6(1).
Slamming 19 aces, Opelka will next face No. 3 seed Jakub Mensik for a place in the quarterfinals.
Opelka is currently ranked No. 72 in the world.
Other winners on the day featured James Duckworth dismissing fellow Aussie Aleksandar Vukic 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1.
Top seed Taylor Fritz begins his campaign on Wednesday against Brazilian upstart Joao Fonseca.
On the women’s side, No. 2 seed and reigning Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova, No. 8 seed Rebecca Sramkova, Jodie Anna Burrage and Varvara Gracheva, Kamilla Rakhimova and Kimberly Birrell all advanced to the second round.
No. 5 seed Magda Linette and No. 7 seed Emma Raducanu will be in action later today.

Tuesday’s action in Mallorca, Spain saw former top 20 player Bernard Tomic pick up his first singles victory of the season, defeating Rinky Hijikata 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Currently ranked No. 248 in the world, Tomic will next face No. 7 seed Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in the quarterfinals.
The veteran Spaniard ousted Tomas Martin Etcheverry 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 earlier in the day.
American qualifier Brandon Holt also moved into the second round with a 2-6 6-4 6-4 victory over Benjamin Bonzi.
No. 2 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime will be in action later today.
Top seed Ben Shelton will play his second round match against Learner Tien on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s schedule of play at in Bad Homburg, Germany saw top seed Jessica Pegula and No. 2 seed Jasmine Paolini both advance to the second round.
Pegula easily defeated Katerina Siniakova 6-2, 6-3, and Paolini ousted Leylah Fernandez 7-6(8), 7-6(6).
Other winners on the day included Beatriz Haddad Maia.
No. 4 seed Iga Swiatek will take on two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka later today.
