Live tennis wagering is winking to you right now if you’re a Nishikori fan and want to support him in his following matches. Kei Nishikori succeeded in securing his first win in a year. It happened on Monday, at the Italian Open. So, start preparing for tennis betting online if you’re excited to see what he’ll do next.

The player is proud of his win – but he’ll still have to work hard to make sure that he will keep winning from now on too. Here’s what happened at the Italian Open.

Nishikori’s First Win of the Year

It was about time – so would say the fans of the Japanese player. Nishikori managed to win on Monday, September 14th, at the Italian Open. He had to get past Albert Ramos-Vinolas from Spain, and six points were necessary for that. He defeated him 6-4, 7-6(3), and thus reached the second clay-court tournament.

His last win was in 2019 at the U.S. Open, so it was expected for him to secure a win soon. He skipped the U.S. Open this year, after having gotten a positive test for the coronavirus. After recovering from elbow surgery, the player from Japan is taking part in his second tournament ever since.

“Very happy to win. I think winning is most important for now. I need to get a lot of confidence. It’s been a long time since the U.S. Open last year,” declared the player after the match. “Happy to go through. It wasn’t maybe perfect yet, but hopefully one by one I’ll get better.”

What Is Going to Happen Next?

He needed six match points to defeat his Spanish opponent – now what is going to happen in the matches to come?

Well, the Japanese player will have to face Lorenzo Musetti, who meet on Tuesday in a first-round match, or Stan Wawrinka next. Wawrinka is the Grand Slam champion. Last week, Nishikori was defeated on the ATP Tour return he made, and he was out of the competition early. He made first-round exits in both singles and doubles at the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel. So hopefully, nothing like that is going to happen anymore. Perhaps the fans are now more confident in Nishikori’s skills after his win.

“Today was much better than the last match last week. I would say twice better,” Nishikori said after his winning match.

Final Thoughts

Even though many big names are missing from the tournament, watching Nishikori will be an exciting thins after he was victorious. Let’s hope things will remain the same.
