Navone Advances in Bastad; Buse Wins in Gstaad
Wednesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Wednesday’s action at the Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden featured clay-court specialist Mariano Navone reach the second round, defeating Tomas Barrios Vera from Chile 7-5, 7-5.
Navone, currently ranked No. 75 in the world, will next face top seed Francisco Cerundolo on Thursday for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other winners on the day featured Filip Misolic and Jesper de Jong advancing. Misolic defeated hard-hitting Dane Elmer Moller 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, and de Jong reached the quarterfinals by ousting No. 8 seed Vic Kopriva 7-6(3), 7-5.

EFG Swiss Open Gstaad—Gstaad, Switzerland
Peruvian star Ignacio Buse reached his first career ATP Tour quarterfinal on Wednesday in Gstaad, Switzerland, defeating Kamil Majchrzak from Poland 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.
Buse, 21, is currently ranked No. 167 in the world. Majchrzak recently made the fourth-round of Wimbledon, losing in straight sets to Karen Khachanov.
Other winners on the day saw Roman Andres Burruchaga from Argentina reach the quarterfinals with a three set victory over Patrick Zahraj 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Matches that are still on deck on Wednesday will see top seed Casper Ruud return to action against home-country favourite Dominic Stricker.
Ruud hasn’t played on Tour since injuring his leg at Roland Garros.

Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo—Los Cabos, Mexico
Wednesday’s action in Los Cabos, Mexico will feature top seed Andrey Rublev, No. 2 seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, No. 3 seed Denis Shapovalov, and No. 4 seed Quentin Halys in action.
With the US Open on deck next month, the Los Cabos event ushers in the Summer hard-court season.
Rublev will take on Alex Hernandez, Davidovich Fokina will go up against James Duckworth, Shapovalov will face Govind Nanda, and Halys will look to reach the second round against Juan Pablo Ficovich.
On Tuesday’s evening, No. 5 seed Daniel Altmaier, No. 6 seed Yunchaokete Bu, and No. 8 seed Adam Walton all advanced to the second round.

Top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova stormed into the second round of the Hamburg Open in Germany on Wednesday, defeating Eva Vedder from France 6-0, 6-3.
Alexandrova will face Caroline Werner from Germany on Thursday for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other winners on the day saw No. 2 seed Dayana Yastremska, Kaja Juvan, Leyre Romero Gormaz, and Viktoriya Tomova advance.
Tomova upset No. 3 seed and Queen’s Club winner Tatjana Maria 6-3, 7-6(5) earlier in the day.

UNICREDIT IASI OPEN—IASI, ROMANIA
Thursday’s schedule at the Isai Open in Romania saw No. 6 seed Jil Teichmann reached the second round, defeating Maja Chwalinska 7-6(5), 6-2.
Striking two aces and breaking serve on four occasions, Teichmann will next face either Simona Waltert or Irene Burillo for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other matches that are still on deck on Wednesday will feature No. 3 seed Ann Li facing Anna Siskova, No. 5 seed Varvara Gracheva going up against Sorana Cirstea, and No. 7 seed Irina-Camelia Begu taking on Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva.
Top seed Elina Avanesyan will return to action on Thursday against Maria Lourdes Carle from Argentina. No. 2 seed Jaqueline Cristian will also be on court against Jana Fett from Croatia.
