New World No. 1 Andy Murray capped off a tremendous week of tennis at the Paris Masters in France, defeating hard-hitting American John Isner 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4 for the title on Sunday.
Overcoming 18 aces, Murray managed to save six break points throughout the contest, and broke serve on two occasions. Improving to 8-0 against Isner in lifetime meetings, Murray won his eighth title of 2016 after Isner dumped a backhand volley into the net.
Officially ranked No. 1 in the world as of Monday, Murray will now switch his focus to the ATP World Tour Finals in London, where he will attempt to win his first-ever title. The field at the O2 Arena in London will feature Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Kei Nishikori, Gael Monfils, Marin Cilic and Dominic Thiem alongside side top-seeded Murray.
Isner, who was playing in his second Tour final of the season, lost earlier this year in the Atlanta final to Nick Kyrgios.
