Medjedovic Advances in Marseille; Swiatek Defeats Sakkari in Doha
Monday’s action at the Open 13 Provence in Marseille, France featured Hamad Medjedovic advance to the second round, defeating Raphael Collignon 6-3, 6-4.
Medjedovic, who is currently ranked No. 96 in the world, hit five aces, won 81 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on two occasions.
Continuing to move his way up the rankings, Medjedovic will next face No. 3 seed Karen Khachanov for a place in quarterfinals.
Khachanov received a buy in round one.
Other matches that are still to come on Monday will feature No. 5 seed Sebastian Korda vs. Otto Virtanen, and No. 7 seed Lorenzo Sonego taking on Botic van de Zandschulp.
Top seed Daniil Medvedev and defending champion and No. 2 seed Ugo Humbert will be in action later this week.

World No. 2 Iga Swiatek started her campaign in style on Monday at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2025 in Doha, Qatar, defeating former world No. 3 Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-2.
Needing one hour and 22 minutes to advance, Swiatek hit three aces, won 71 percent of her first serve points and broke her Greek opponent on five occasions.
Looking to win four-straight titles in Doha, Swiatek will next face Yulia Putintseva or Linda Noskova. Putintseva defeated Moyuka Uchijima 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3, and Noskova ousted No. 15 seed Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-4.
Other winners on the day saw No. 8 seed Leylah Fernandez reaching the round of 16 by ousting No. 8 seed Emma Navvaro 6-2, 6-2, and No. 10 seed Daria Kasatkina advanced past Polina Kudermetova 6-0, 6-0.
Rebecca Sramkova, Sofia Kenin and Jelena Ostapenko and Magda Linette all reached the round of 32.
Tuesday’s action in Doha will feature top seed Aryna Sabalenka taking on Ekaterina Alexandrova. Alexandrova dismissed former US Open winner Emma Raducanu 6-3, 7-5 on Monday.
