Mubadala Citi DC Open—Washington, DC, U.S.A.
Brit star Dan Evans captured the biggest title of his career on Sunday in Washington, D.C., defeating Tallon Griekspoor 7-5, 6-3.
Needing one hour and 42 minutes to seal his victory, Evans used his pin-point serve and slice backhand to offset his crafty opponent.
Capturing his last time in Melbourne in 2021, Evans will move up to No. 21 in the world on Monday.
Griekspoor, who was aiming to win his third title of 2023, dismissed top seed Taylor Fritz in the semifinals. The Dutchman will be ranked No. 26 in the world when the latest rankings are released.
