New Balance Signs Tennis Star Genie Bouchard to Multi-Year Sponsorship Deal

TENNIS STAR GENIE BOUCHARD TO JOIN TENNIS CHANNEL
DURING SHOULDER-INJURY REHAB

Wimbledon Finalist will Offer Analysis During Summer Hardcourt Tournaments

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2, 2021 — Genie Bouchard, who reached the Wimbledon singles final in 2014, is joining Tennis Channel as a studio analyst this summer while she recovers from shoulder surgery. Her first on-air appearance will be today during the network’s coverage of the Citi Open in Washington and the Mubadala Silicone Valley Classic in San Jose, Calif. Bouchard will offer commentary every day this week and continue to work for the network during the initial days of Canada’s National Bank Open presented by Rogers, which takes place in Toronto and Montreal starting August 9.

Bouchard (@geniebouchard) will interact with Tennis Channel analysts and former players Lindsay Davenport (@LDavenport76), Paul Annacone (@paul_annacone), Chanda Rubin (@Chanda_Rubin) and Jimmy Arias (@ariastennis).

“I’m very excited to work with Tennis Channel for the next few weeks,” said Bouchard. “Whether at home or in a hotel on the road, I always have Tennis Channel on my TV. I’m really looking forward to joining the team in the studio.”

Ranked as high as No. 5 in singles (the first Canadian to do so), Bouchard had a magnificent run to the final at Wimbledon in 2014. It was the same year that she reached the semifinals at both the Australian Open and French Open. She has represented Canada at the Olympics and as a member of its Fed Cup team.

Tennis Channel has a tradition of working with guest analysts. This has included Hall of Famers Andy Roddick, Pam Shriver and Michael Chang as well as active players recovering from injury, among them Sloane Stephens, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Shelby Rogers.

Tennis Channel (www.tennischannel.com), which is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, is the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and tennis lifestyle. A hybrid of comprehensive sports, health, fitness, pop culture, entertainment, lifestyle and travel programming, the network is home to every aspect of the wide-ranging, worldwide tennis community. It also has the most concentrated single-sport coverage in television, with telecast rights at the US Open, Wimbledon, Roland Garros (French Open), Australian Open, ATP World Tour events, WTA competitions, Laver Cup and Fed Cup. Tennis Channel is carried by all of the top 10 video providers.

Genie has been great! I’ve enjoyed her commentary – she’s an experienced tennis player and obviously an intelligent young woman. Not to wish a premature end to her tennis career, but please enlist her services early and often in the future – she’s great, and wonderful addition (foil?) to the oft-starchy, sideline journalist commentators that Tennis Channel usually serves up. She’s great – bring her back!

    Sorry..genie is boring…a talking head

She’s a NO for me….could hardly recognize her for the ton and a half of make-up. Don’t feel she adds anything of interest.

I agree didn’t recognize her either. Definitely too much eye makeup & I’m not that excited about her commentary.

  5. Carole Kaliher says:

Personally I think Genie is intelligent and is engaging. She is knowledgible but seems a bit nervous. She will loosen up. Give the lady a break.

No way Jose! Bouchard’s lack of sportsmanship and often biased comments are a turn off for me! As she has stated, she is her biggest fan and it is evident that she that she not only believes her own publicity but like to write it. Such a narcissistic personality grates on my last nerve! Her comments about fellow tennis players, who have accomplished so much more than she has, is pathetic. I am interested in tennis facts, not a Barbie wanna-be who is known more for her bum floss bathing suit photos than her tennis .

Tennis channel needs to reconsider Genie Bouchard as a commentator. Her tennis brain is not deep enough for good analysis, so what we get is very cliched comments that do little to ad to the viewing experience. I urge tennis channel to employ smart insightful commentators. Having been a very good player would help.

Watch out Tennis Channel she will turn your program into the “Genie Show”. She should lose the makeup and not continually make reference to her tennis career. Her biases come thru with comments about other players that are somewhat harsh. Sour grapes perhaps?

If she wants to be taken seriously, tone down the hairdo and dress more like her counterparts, female and male.

She is actually one of the better announcer/analysts on the Tennis Channel. Yes, she is indeed beautiful but more importantly she is bright, knowledgeable, very well spoken and likable. She’s a stone cold winner!
