Fonseca Advances to Second Round of 2025 Eastbourne Open
Monday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Monday’s action at the Eastbourne Open in Great Britain saw Brazilian upstart Joao Fonseca advance to the second round, defeating Zizou Bergs 6-7(8), 6-0, 6-3.
Picking up his first career grass-court victory, Fonseca hit three aces, withstood 14 from Bergs and broke his opponent on five occasions.
Currently ranked No. 57 in the world, Fonseca will next face top seed Taylor Fritz on Wednesday. Fritz has won the title in Eastbourne on three occasions. He also collected the title in Stuttgart, Germany earlier this month.
Other results on the day featured Mattia Bellucci and Daniel Evans advancing.
On Tuesday, Halle champion Alexander Bublik and former Wimbledon semifinalist Cameron Norrie will be in action.
On the women’s side, Alexandra Eala, Francesca Jones and Anna Blinkova progressed to the second round. Top seed Daria Kasatkina will take on Lulu Sun from Australia later today.
On Tuesday, Emma Raducanu will play her first match against Ann Li from the United States.

Inform Canadian Gabriel Diallo collected another win on Monday in Mallorca, Spain, defeating Jaume Munar 7-5, 6-3.
Diallo will next face Laslo Djere from Serbia. Diallo won his first-career title in the Netherlands earlier this month.
Other winners on Monday included Roman Safiullin, Hamad Medjedovic, Corentin Moutet, and Arthur Rinderknech.
On Tuesday, No. 2 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and No. 7 seed Roberto Bautista Agut will be in action.

On Monday, four-time former Major winner Naomi Osaka picked up a much-needed victory in Bad Homburg, defeating Olga Danilovic 7-6(6), 7-6(4).
Striking 16 aces, Osaka will next face No. 5 seed Emma Navarro for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other winners on the day saw No. 8 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, Donna Vekic, Katerina Siniakova, Clara Tauson, and Linda Noskova all reach the round of 16.
On Tuesday, top seed Jessica Pegula, No. 2 seed Jasmine Paolini and No. 5 seed Iga Swiatek will all be in action.
