Dimitrov Advances to 2025 Miami Open Fourth Round; Swiatek Wins

Sunday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results

Sunday’s action at the 2025 Miami Open presented by Itau featured Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov reaching the fourth round, defeating powerful Russian Karen Khachanov 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-5.

In an athletic match that lasted two hours and 38 minutes, Dimitrov hit 13 aces, won 81 percent of his first serve points and broke the No. 22 seed on two occasions.

Looking to defend his points from the finals last year, Dimitrov will next face No. 31 seed Brandon Nakashima or David Goffin.

Goffin ousted No. 2 seed and former winner Carlos Alcaraz in second round action.

Matches that are still to come on Sunday will include No. 4 seed Novak Djokovic, No. 5 seed Casper Ruud, No. 8 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and No. 12 seed Tommy Paul.

Monday’s order of play in South Florida will be highlighted by top seed Alexander Zverev, No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz, No. 16 seed Frances Tiafoe and Brazilian upstart Joao Fonseca.

Swiatek Marches On

Five-time Major winner Iga Swiatek progressed into the fourth-round in Miami on Sunday, ousting seasoned veteran Elise Mertens 7-6(2), 6-1.

Needing one hour and 48 minutes to seal her victory, Swiatek struck six aces, won 72 percent of her first serve points and broke her opponent five occasions.

Looking for her first title since capturing her fourth Roland Garros crown last Spring, Swiatek will next take on No. 22 seed Elina Svitolina.

Svitolina dismissed No. 15 seed Karolina Muchova 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

Other winners on the day saw No. 10 seed Paula Badosa defeat inform Dane and No. 20 seed Clara Tauson 6-3, 7-6(3).

Monday’s schedule of play will feature top seed Aryna Sabalenka, No. 3 seed Coco Gauff, No. 6 seed Jasmine Paolini, No. 9 seed Qinwen Zheng, and four-time Major winner Naomi Osaka.

Osaka needed three sets to dispatch Hailey Baptiste from the United States 7-6(8), 3-6, 6-4 in the third round.
