Defending Champion Fucsovics Advances in Bucharest
Tuesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Tuesday’s action at the Tiriac Open presented by UniCredit Bank in Bucharest, Romania saw defending champion Marton Fucsovics reach the second round, defeating Luca Nardi from Italy 6-3, 6-1.
Needing one hour and seven minutes to advance, Fucsovics hit one ace, won 79 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on four occasions. Striking 14 winners in total, Fucsovics will next face No. 7 seed Mariano Navone from Argentina.
Navone was a three set winner over Laslo Djere on Monday.
Other winners on Tuesday included Christopher O’Connell, Filip Misolic, Damir Dzumhur and No. 8 seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
Three-time former Major winner Stan Wawrinka will take the court later today against Timofey Skatov from Kazakhstan.
Wednesday’s schedule in Romania will feature top seed Sebastian Baez and No. 3 seed Flavio Cobolli.
Grand Prix Hassan II—Marrakech, Morocco
Tuesday’s order of play in Marrakech, Morocco featured Dutchman Jesper de Jong progress to the second round, dismissing hometown star Elliot Benchetrit 7-5, 6-1.
De Jong will next face No. 6 seed Jaume Munar or Kamil Majchrzak from Poland.
Other matches on the docket on Tuesday will feature No. 8 seed Mattia Bellucci and Frenchman Hugo Gaston.
Nishikori Takes Centre Stage in Houston
Former US Open finalist and world No. 4 Kei Nishikori returns to Houston, Texas on Tuesday for his first-round match.
The Japanese star, who has been injury prone for most of his career, will take on Mitchell Krueger from the United States.
Other matches on the day will include Christoper Eubanks, Mackenzie McDonald and No. 6 seed Jordan Thompson.
Top seed Tommy Paul and No. 2 seed Frances Tiafoe will be in action later this week.

A star-studded day of action at the Credit One Charleston Open in South Carolina will see No. 2 seed and reigning Australian Open winner Madison Keys in action, as well as former Miami Open winner Danielle Collins.
