De Jong Reaches Bastad Semifinals; Buse Advances to Gstaad Final Four

Dutch player Jesper de Jong caused an upset on Friday at the Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden, defeating No. 2 seed and countryman Tallon Griekspoor 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.
Needing two hour and 41 minutes to advance, de Jong will next face Filip Misolic or No. 5 seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli for a place in Sunday’s final.
Other matches on the day will include top seed Francisco Cerundolo taking on No. 7 seed Damir Dzumhur, and No. 4 seed Sebastian Baez facing Luciano Darderi from Italy.

EFG Swiss Open Gstaad—Gstaad, Switzerland
Ignacio Buse from Peru reached his first career semifinal on the ATP Tour on Friday in Gstaad, Switzerland, defeating Roman Andres Burruchaga from Argentina 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Buse, who entered Gstaad with a 3-3 career record, will next face Juan Manuel Cerundolo, who defeated top seed Casper Ruud 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 in two hours and nine minutes.
Juan Manuel is the younger brother of world No. 20 Francisco Cerundolo. Juan Manuel Cerundolo is currently ranked No. 109 in the world.
No. 2 seed Alexander Bublik will look to keep his fine form intact later today when he faces No. 7 seed Francisco Comesana from Argentina.
Arthur Cazaux from France will also be in action, facing Jerome Kym from Switzerland. Cazaux upset No. 4 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry in three sets on Thursday.

Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo—Los Cabos, Mexico
Friday’s semifinal clashes at the 250 ATP Tour event in Los Cabos, Mexico will see top seed Andrey Rublev and No. 3 seed Denis Shapovalov in action.
With both players benefitting from easy draws this week, Rublev will next face No. 7 seed Aleksandar Kovacevic, and Shapovalov will take on No. 8 seed Adam Walton from Australia.
Both Rublev and Shapovalov have both won one title in 2025.

MSC HAMBURG LADIES OPEN—HAMBURG,GERMANY
Friday’s action at the Hamburg Open in Germany saw Kaja Juvan reach the semifinals, defeating Leyre Romero Gormaz from Spain 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-4.
Juvan, from Slovenia, will next face either top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova or Anna Bondar from Hungary.
Other matches that are still on deck on Friday will see No. 2 seed Dayana Yastremska taking on Dalma Galfi, and French Open semifinalist and No. 5 seed Lois Boisson facing Viktoriya Tomova from Bulgaria.

UNICREDIT IASI OPEN—IASI, ROMANIA
Sorana Cirstea enthralled the home-town fans on Friday at the Isai Open in Romania, defeating Maria Lourdes Carle from Argentina 6-1, 6-4.
Hitting one ace and breaking serve on four occasions, Cirstea will next face Jil Teichmann for a place in the finals. Teichmann ousted fellow Swiss player Simona Waltert 5-7, 6-1, 7-5.
Other matches that will take place on Friday will include No. 2 seed Jaqueline Cristian taking on Panna Udvardy, and No. 7 seed Irina-Camelia Begu taking on Anna Siskova from the Czech Republic.
