Alcaraz Wins Japan Open; Sinner Advances to Beijing Open Final

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz continued his dominance on the ATP Tour on Tuesday, defeating No. 2 seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 to capture his eighth title of 2025 at the Japan Open in Tokyo.
Alcaraz, who has made nine straight finals on the circuit, hit six aces, won 78 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on three occasions.
Improving to 4-1 against Fritz in lifetime meetings, Alcaraz will now shift his attention to the Rolex Shanghai Masters in China. The 22-year-old will be aiming to win his ninth title of the year against a strong field.
Fritz, who was looking to win his third title of 2025, fell to 47-18 in 2025.

Top seed Jannik Sinner returned to the finals of the China Open on Tuesday, defeating No. 3 seed Alex de Minaur 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
Improving to 11-0 against de Minaur in the lifetime meetings, Sinner will take on unseeded American Learner Tien in Wednesday’s final.
Tien advanced to the championship round when No. 8 seed Daniil Medvedev was forced to retire trailing 4-0 in the third set.
Sinner and Tien have never played on Tour. Sinner will be looking to capture his third title of the season.
Tien, 19, will be playing in his first-career final on Wednesday.
Lys Reaches Quarterfinals
On the ladies side, German Eva Lys reached the quarterfinals of the China Open on Tuesday after she defeated McCartney Kessler from the United States 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Lys will next face No. 2 seed Coco Gauff for a place in the semifinals.
Other matches on Tuesday will featured No. 3 seed Amanda Anisimova taking on No. 13 seed Karolina Muchova, and No. 6 seed Jasmine Paolini facing Marie Bouzkova.
On Wednesday, top seed Iga Swiatek, No. 4 seed Mirra Andreeva, No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula and No. 26 seed Linda Noskova will all be in action.
