Alcaraz Wins First Monte Carlo Masters Title in Monaco
Sunday’s ATP Tour Results from Monaco
Popular Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz won his first title at the 2025 Rolex Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco on Sunday, defeating Italian Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
Needing one hour and 47 minutes to claim his crown, Alcaraz struck three aces, won 70 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on six occasions. Adding 30 winners to his victory, Alcaraz won his 18th career title and will move up to No. 2 in the world on Monday.
The 21-year-old is 2210 points behind world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The Italian will return from a doping suspension on May 4th and will next complete and the Rome Masters in Italy.
Musetti, who was in search of his third career title, has also thrived on clay. He previously won the title in Hamburg, Germany in 2022, and made the finals in Umag, Croatia in 2024.
The 23-year-old will move up to No. 11 in the world when the latest rankings are released. A new career high.
Musetti defeated defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, No. 8 seed Alex de Minaur and country Matteo Berrettini en-route to the finals.
Next Week in Barcelona
Both Musetti and Alcaraz will next see action at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Barcelona, Spain next week. Alcaraz will be the top seed, while Musetti will enter the event as the No. 8 seed.
No. 2 seed and defending champion Casper Ruud will also be in the event, along side de Minuar, Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune and Stan Wawrinka.
