Saturday’s ATP Tour and WTA Previews for Tokyo and Beijing
Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships
Saturday’s action at the ATP Tour Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo, Japan will feature top seed Carlos Alcaraz back in action, taking on Zizou Bergs from Belgium.
Alcaraz, who injured his left ankle in the earlier stages of his straight-sets victory over Sebastian Baez, will look to reach the quarterfinal stage of the 500 level event against his No. 45 ranked opponent.
The 22-year-old has made the finals of his last eight events, winning seven of the them. Alcaraz is having his best year to date, and will be looking to lock in the world No. 1 ranking for the season in the coming weeks.
Other matches will include No. 3 seed Holger Rune facing Ethan Quinn, Brandan Nakashima going up against Marton Fucsovics, and Jenson Brooksby taking on Luciano Darderi.
Darderi, who has won three titles on the year, currently stands at 28-21 in 2025.
China Open—Beijing, China
Over in Beijing, top seed and four-time Major winner Jannik Sinner will face inform Frenchman Terence Atmane.
Defeating the 23-year-old in the semifinals of the Cincinnati Open, Sinner will be weary of the firepower his opponent can bring to the court.
Atmane, who enters the match with a 7-6 record on the year, has the type of game that can trouble anyone on Tour.
Sinner, who lost to Alcaraz in the finals of Beijing last year, will be looking to claim his third title of 2025 this week.
Other players in action on Saturday will feature No. 3 seed Alex de Minaur and No. 7 seed Jakub Mensik.
