Alcaraz Advances to Second Round of 2025 Barcelona Open
Tuesday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Tuesday’s action at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Barcelona, Spain saw top seed Carlos Alcaraz advance to the second round, defeating Ethan Quinn from the United States 6-2, 7-6(6).
Fresh off of his victory at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters on Sunday, Alcaraz needed one hour and 46 minutes to reach the round of 16.
Playing in front of his supportive fans, Alcaraz hit 14 winners, won 65 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on five occasions.
Already winning the title twice in Barcelona, Alcaraz will next face Laslo Djere from Serbia in round two.
Djere ousted Arthur Rinderknech in three sets on Monday.
Other winners on Tuesday included defending champion and No. 2 seed Casper Ruud, No. 3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, No. 5 seed Alex de Minaur, No. 7 seed Arthur Fils and Argentine Sebastian Baez.

Tuesday’s schedule in Munich, Germany saw defending champion Jan-Lennard Struff crash out of the event, losing 6-0, 6-2 in No. 5 seed Francisco Cerundolo.
Struff, who has a terrible record of 3-10 on the year, will drop down to No. 79 in the world next Monday.
Cerundolo will await Flavio Cobolli or Alexander Shevchenko for a place in the quarterfinals.
Other winners on Tuesday included Yannick Hanfmann, Fabian Marozsan, Luciano Darderi and Botic van de Zandschulp.
Hanfmann ousted recent Miami Open winner Jakub Mensik 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-3 in just over two hours and 30 minutes.
Wednesday’s order of play in Munich will be highlighted by top seed Alexander Zverev and No. 2 seed Ben Shelton.

Tuesday’s action in Stuttgart, Germany saw former French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko reach the second round, advancing when her opponent Dayana Yastremska was forced to retire trailing 6-3, 3-0.
Ostapenko will next face either No. 7 seed Emma Navarro or Brazilian star Beatriz Haddad Maia. The pair will face off later today.
Other winners on the day saw Jana Fett from Croatia defeat her countrywoman Donna Vekic 7-6(2), 6-4. Fett will take on No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek in second round action.
Matches that are still to come on Tuesday will feature No. 5 seed Jasmine Paolini, German Laura Siegemund and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole
Day 2 action in Rouen, France saw No. 3 seed Olga Danilovic advance to the second round, defeating Aleksandra Runic from Serbia 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.
Danilovic will await the winner of Linda Fruhvirtova or Anna Blinkova for a place in quarterfinals.
The No. 3 seed hit three aces, won 69 percent of her first serve points and broke serve on five occasions.
Other winners on day saw Lois Boisson, and Jessika Ponchet reach the second round.
Top seed Elina Svitolina and No. 2 seed Linda Noskova and former US Open winner Bianca Andresscu will be in action later this week.
Andresscu hasn’t played a match yet this season.
