US Open 2025: Sinner, Swiatek, Gauff and Musetti Light Up Labour Day

Monday’s Labour Day action at the 2025 US Open will feature world No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner take on inform No. 23 seed Alexander Bublik under the lights.
Losing to Bublik at the Halle, Germany event before Wimbledon, Sinner will be weary of his opponent’s talent. Bublik has captured three titles this year and is playing the best tennis of his life. At 28, Bublik has the power and variety to create havoc for any top-ranked played.
Bublik defeated No. 14 seed Tommy Paul in five sets in the previous round. Sinner needed four sets to oust No 27 seed Denis Shapovalov in the third round.
Sinner has made the finals of the last four Majors and will be attempting to win his fifth career Grand Slam in New York City.
Bublik has made the quarterfinals of one Major in his career, losing to Sinner in straight sets at the French Open earlier this season.
Other matches on deck on Monday will include No. 8 seed Alex de Minaur taking on Leandro Riedi from Switzerland, No. 10 seed Lorenzo Musetti going up against Jaume Munar, and No. 15 seed Andrey Rublev facing No. 23 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.
On Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz was a straight set winner over Arthur Rinderknech, No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz easily defeated No. 21 seed Tomas Machac, No. 7 seed and former winner Novak Djokovic blitzed past Jan-Lennard Struff in three sets, and No. 20 seed Jiri Lehecka needed four sets to oust crafty Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in four sets.
On Tuesday, Alcaraz will return to take on Lehecka, and Djokovic will face Fritz in the quarterfinals. Djokovic owns a 10-0 head-to-head against the American. Alcaraz leads his Czech opponent 2-1 in career matches. Lehecka defeated the Spaniard earlier this year in the quarterfinals in Doha, Qatar.
Gauff, Osaka in Fourth Round US Open Clash
Arthur Ashe Stadium will be buzzing tonight when two-time Major winner Coco Gauff takes on four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka under the lights.
Owning a slight 3-2 head-to-head lead over Osaka, Gauff has had her challenges this tournament with her serve. Looking to change her motion in order to stop her high number of double faults, Gauff will be susceptible to many breaks of serve against her Japanese opponent.
Osaka, who is a former world No. 1, is currently ranked No. 22 in the world. She recently made the finals of the Montreal Masters, and defeated No. 15 seed Daria Kasatkina from Australia in the previous round.
Osaka’s favourite surface is hard-courts, and she will be ready for the challenge that her American opponent brings forward.
Other matches that will take place at the US Open today will include No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek going up against No. 13 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, No. 8 seed Amanda Anisimova taking on No. 18 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia, and No. 11 seed Karolina Muchova facing No. 27 seed Marta Kostyuk.
On Sunday, top seed Aryna Sabalenka reached the quarterfinals with a straight set victory over Cristina Bucsa, No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula easily dismissed Ann Li in two sets, Barbora Krejcikova saved eight match points to defeat Taylor Townsend, and former Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova needed three sets to dispatch No. 9 seed Elena Rybakina.
On Tuesday, Sabalenka will take on Vondrousova, and Pegula will go up against Krejcikova.
Sabalenka leads Vondrousova 5-4 in career meetings, and Krejcikova leads Pegula 2-1 career matches.
