Arnaldi Advances in Washington; Fucsovics Wins in Kitzbuhel
Monday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results
Monday’s action at the Mubadala Citi DC Open saw Italian Matteo Arnaldi continue his strong season, defeating Daniel Altmaier from Germany 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(2).
Needing two hours and 42 minutes to prevail, Arnaldi will next face No. 16 seed Lorenzo Sonego.
Other winners on the day saw Mackenzie McDonald, Daniel Evans, Fabian Marozsan, Alexandre Muller and Ethan Quinn advance to the second round.
On the women’s side, a pair of Canadians picked up impressive victories on Monday. Former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez defeated up-and-coming Australian Maya Joint 6-3, 6-3, and Victoria Mboko took out Anastasia Potapova 6-2, 6-4.
No. 5 seed Magdalena Frech and No. 8 seed Magda Linette will be in action later today against Yuliia Starodubtseva, and Danielle Collins, respectively.
Maria Sakkari and Katie Boulter will also be in action on Monday.
Naomi Osaka and Venus Williams be featured on Tuesday.
On the men’s side, Gael Monfils and David Goffin will play their first matches of the week tomorrow.
American Taylor Fritz is the tournament top seed.

Generali Open—Kitzbuhel, Austria
No. 8 seed Marton Fucsovics progressed to the second round in Kitzbuhel, Austria on Tuesday, dismissing Joel Schwaerzler 6-2, 2-6 6-3 in one hour and 47 minutes.
Fucsovics will take on Alexander Shevchenko in round two. Shevchenko defeated Daniel Elahi Galan 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 later in the day.
No. 7 seed Francisco Comesana also advanced to the round of 16, dispatching Tristan Boyer from the United States 6-3 7-6(1).
Alexander Bublik, who won the title in Gstaad, Switzerland over the weekend, is the tournament top seed.

Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag—Umag, Croatia
No. 5 seed Marino Navone continued to thrive on his favourite clay court surface on Monday in Umag, Croatia, defeating Tomas Barrios Vera 6-1, 6-2.
Navone will take on either Jesper de Jong or Mili Poljicak in the second round.
Other winners on Monday saw Nikoloz Basilashvili, Pablo Llamas Ruiz, Terence Atmane, Titouan Droguet, Carlos Taberner and Chun-Hsin Tseng all reach the second round.
Top seed Francisco Cerundolo will be in action later this week against Taberner.

No. 2 seed Rebecca Sramkova reached the second round of the Prague Open on Day 1, dismissing Jesika Maleckova from the Czech Republic 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Other results on the day featured Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Lucrezia Stefanini, Sara Bejlek, No. 5 seed Marie Bouzkova, and No. 9 seed Ann Li all reaching the second round.
Top seed Linda Noskova will be in action against Anastasia Gasanova on Tuesday.
