Sabalenka won the US Open last Summer, before losing to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final and Coco Gauff in last month’s French Open final. She will remain No. 1 in the World when the latest rankings are released.
Anisimova will next face five-time Major winner Iga Swiatek for the title on Saturday.
The Polish star easily defeated Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-0 in one hour and 12 minutes.
Swiatek, who has not won a tournament since capturing Roland Garros in 2024, has never played Anisimova on Tour.
Swiatek reached the finals of the tune up event in Berlin, Germany, prior to the start of Wimbledon, losing to World No. 3 Jessica Pegula.

Men’s Semifinal Preview
Friday’s men’s semifinal matches at Wimbledon will feature two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz taking on US Open finalist Taylor Fritz, before top ranked Jannik Sinner faces seven-time former winner Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz, who enters the match with Fritz in the best form of his career, recently won his second French Open title and fifth over Major.
The 22-year-old owns a 2-0 series lead over Fritz. To Fritz’s credit, the American enters the match playing some of the best grass-court tennis of his career. Winning two, tune-up titles on the grass leading into Wimbledon, Fritz will be confident in reaching his second career Grand Slam final.
The day’s second semifinal will see Sinner take a 5-4 head-to-head lead against the Serbian legend. Sinner has won four straight matches against Djokovic on Tour, but has lost both matches on grass to the No. 6 seed at Wimbledon.
Sinner reached the semifinals after Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire from their fourth-round match after injuring his pectoral muscle. Dimitrov was leading Sinner two sets to love and 2-all in the third set when the injury occurred.
The Italian then defeated No. 10 seed Ben Shelton from the United States in the quarterfinals.
For Djokovic, his road to the semifinals saw him defeat No. 11 Alex de Minuar in the fourth round and No. 22 seed Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinals. Djokovic’s best surface is grass and he will be feeling confident against Sinner on Friday.
