Held at The Billy Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows, New York the US Open remains the highest annually attended sporting event in the world.

Nadal to Skip NYC

The legendary Spaniard will miss his second Major in a row after a lacklustre performance at the Olympic Games. Bowing out to eventual winner Novak Djokovic in the second round, Nadal is taking his time to assess his career and future in the game. The Mallorcan has won the US Open on four occasions.

Djokovic and Alcaraz take Centre Stage

Regardless of their rankings, the two best players in the world this year are Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. Playing a memorable final at the Olympic Games, Djokovic completed his quest as the Grand Master of Tennis.

Alcaraz, who has won four Majors and will be looking for his third straight in NYC, remains one of the most electrifying players in the world.

Other players to watch out for in New York are world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, former winner Daniil Medvedev and German Alexander Zverev.

Sabalenka will Look for Major No. 3 in Queen’s

Reigning Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka will be fully motivated to prove that her game translates well to the hard-courts in Flushing Meadows.

Known as one of the most powerful players in the world, the Belarusian has also become one of the most popular.

World No. 1 Iga Swaitek is no stranger to winning  in New York, and will be adamant on taking home her sixth career Grand Slam.

Defending champion Coco Gauff, who has not played her best tennis this year, returns to the site of her maiden Grand Slam in search of the form that brought her to stardom 12 months ago.

Olympic Gold Medalist Qinwen Zheng will also be one to watch throughout the fortnight. The Chinese star became on overnight sensation after striking gold in Paris.
