UNIQLO Launches New Game Models Worn by Global Brand Ambassadors Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori
May 15, 2019, New York, New York—UNIQLO, the Japanese global apparel retailer, today announces that it will offer replica game wear and other items worn at the 2019 French Open by its Global Brand Ambassadors Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori. Items will be available from Monday, May 20th at select UNIQLO stores and through UNIQLO.com. The new game wear models were developed by the design team at the UNIQLO Paris R&D Center, led by Artistic Director Christophe Lemaire, in consultation with both players.
Roger Federer model uses classic, refined colors–the Roger Federer model features details and colors inspired by tennis wear of the late 1970s to early 1980s.
The refined color scheme is based on a beige tone that complements the clay court, accented with off-white and deep red. Functional elements include mesh shoulders and sides that enable high-performance on the court, created through a series of fitting sessions with Roger Federer.
Comment from Roger Federer: “I had frequent consultations with the development team, and I’m extremely pleased with the game wear they’ve created. It is exceptionally high quality, not only in terms of the silhouette and coloring, but it also has the functionality I need during play. This will be my first appearance at Roland Garros since 2015, and I’m looking forward to playing in UNIQLO game wear. ”
Kei Nishikori model features vibrant colors to match early summer in Paris–the new Kei Nishikori model game retains the same full body color block concept used through out the season. The vibrant, early-summer colors, accented with white and black, deliver a more stand-out design. Functional elements include mesh in the collar and neck, as well as the entire back, providing good breathability to maintain comfort during play.
Comment from Kei Nishikori: “I am really looking forward to competing in the French Open wearing the game wear created together with Christophe Lemaire and the Paris design team. Thevivid colors to match the Paris season will inspire me to achieve my best result .”
The collection will be on May 20th at the following stores: UNIQLO.com; 5th Ave. (NY); 34th St. (NY); Soho (NY); N. Michigan Avenue (Chicago); Union Square (San Francisco); Beverly Center (LA).
