Tuesday’s action at the Australian Open featured No. 3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas easily reaching the semifinals after dispatching unseeded Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-4.
Needing two hours and 17 minutes to advance, Tsitsipas struck nine aces, won 80 percent of his first serve points and hit 36 winners in total.
Looking to win his first ever Major, Tsitsipas will next face No. 18 seed Karen Khachanov, who advanced after No. 29 Sebastian Korda was forced to retire with a wrist injury after trailing 7-6(5), 6-3, 3-0.
Tsitsipas owns a 5-0 head-to-head lead over Khachanov in lifetime meetings.
Elsewhere, former two-time winner Victoria Azarenka advanced to the final four after she dismissed No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula 6-4, 6-1. Azarenka will aim to reach the finals for the third time when she takes on reigning Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina, who dismissed Jelena Ostapenko 6-2, 6-4.
Wednesday’s action in Melbourne will be highlighted by Novak Djokovic facing No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev and Aryna Sabalenka taking on Donna Vekic. Ben Shelton and Karolina Pliskova will also be on the order of play.
