Italian Open 2017: Schedule of Play for Saturday, May 20

Open Parc Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Lyon—Lyon, France

Top seed Dominic Thiem won his 10th career ATP World Tour on Saturday in Lyon, France, defeating Gilles Simon 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-1. Needing two hours and 24 minutes to seal his victory, Thiem struck six aces, won 72 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions. Improving to 8-2 against Simon in lifetime meetings, Thiem will now head to Roland Garros where he will be in search of his first Grand Slam title.

Simon, who was aiming to win his 14th career title, reached his second final of the season. The 33-year-old also reached the finals in Pune, India to start the year.

Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open—Geneva, Switzerland

Hungarian Marton Fucsovics captured his maiden career title in his maiden career final on Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland, dismissing German Peter Gojowczyk 6-2, 6-2. Dominating proceedings from start to finish, Fucsovics broke serve four times and never faced a break point on his own delivery. Never facing his opponent on Tour, Fucsovics improved to 12-10 on the year and will take great confidence into the French Open, which begins in Paris, France on Sunday.

Gojowczyk, who was searching for his second career title and first this year, also made the finals in Delray Beach, Florida earlier this season.
