Welcome to Tennis Elbow, the column that looks back on the week that was in the world of tennis. This week, Charles Blouin-Gascon fills in the readers on The 2020 Tennis Connected Holiday Gift Guide.

The 2020 Tennis Connected Holiday Gift Guide

Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year.

Every year at this time, we scarcely have many, if any, new topics to discuss in full so why not switch it up a little bit this year? We thought it might be fun, as the calendar is just about set to switch to December and the countdown to Christmas rolls on, to give a few of our favourite gift suggestions for this month.

’Tis the season, as they say, so why not keep in holiday spirit? See below a few prized suggestions on what to gift the special someone in your life this Christmas—and by special someone, we mean the someone who’s a tennis fan.

Tennis Giant

Tennis Giant is kind of a one-stop for everything your loved ones might need or want, or might want to need (or vice-versa), from the apparel and the accessories to the racquets and gear. It’s all broken down on their site as being for men, women or the younger junior players. They currently have a Black Friday Sale section and, for what it’s worth, also have all you need for badminton, squash or padel.

Babolat Racquets

The first thing someone who wants to start in tennis will likely need is a good, solid and reliable racquet. Luckily for us, Babolat has oodles of these, which helps explain why their Pure Drive and Pure Aero models are the two highest selling racquets in the world. You already know how we feel about the Babolat Pure Drive and the Babolat Pure Aero; simply put, they’re great to play with, whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned veteran.

If a racquet is good enough for Rafael Nadal and Garbine Muguruza, then surely it’s good enough for you too. You can grab yours at Tennis Giant if you’re in Canada or otherwise at Tennis Warehouse.

BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California

Trip to Indian Wells in 2021

We know, we know, it’s tricky to envision what you might be doing, and where, by the time the 2021 BNP Paribas Open rolls around this March in the age of COVID-19. But if you’re looking to travel to one of the biggest events of the tennis season and witness the best the sport has to offer, then maybe you should consider doing so with Steve Furgal’s International Tennis Tours.

NikeCourt collection

In order to be the best, you have dress like the best, right? You might have seen the NikeCourt apparel collection this past summer but if you’d like to refresh your memory you can click on this link. Whether you purchase the general line or specifically the Andre Agassi US Open collection, you can do so here, here if you live in Europe and here if you’re in Canada.

TopCourt

Welcome to the best app for tennis in the age of social distancing and remote learning. With TopCourt, you can learn from the likes of Chris Evert, Andrey Rublev, Fernando Verdasco and a slew of others. TopCourt is a streaming platform that gives its members access to all the content that the tennis professionals, from today or yesterday lore, and better your game from wherever you wish to be. If this interests you, may we suggest using the referral code and receive a free 14-day free trail by following this link?

TennisOne

We’re cheating a bit here, since this isn’t technically a gift, but the TennisOne mobile app is the best way to keep track of your favourite players and events on the tennis calendar. Best of all, it’s free.

TennisTV

A TennisTV subscription may be the single most underrated possible holiday gift you can offer your loved one this season. The biggest and most important events on the tennis calendar are obviously broadcast on television, but you might miss out on a ton of action if you simply rely on the ESPNs of this world. Why not grab a “15 for 12” subscription? Pretty, pretty good deal.
